Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide - Townsville

The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide will commence its fifth hearing block in Townsville on Monday 20 June 2022.



 

On 8 July 2021, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), issued Letters Patent, which established the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide. Mr Nick Kaldas APM, the Hon James Douglas QC, and Dr Peggy Brown AO have been appointed as Royal Commissioners. They are required to produce an interim report by 11 August 2022 and a final report by 17 June 2024.

The Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide will commence its Public Hearing Block 5 at the Mercure Hotel Townsville on Monday 20 June 2022.

Anyone proposing to attend the Public Hearing can pre-register. The proceedings will also be available via Webcast on the Royal Commission’s website. Times are approximate and subject to change.

Please be aware that these hearings may contain material and images that are triggering for some people. The public nature of the hearings also means that there may be people in military uniforms as well as military service providers in attendance.
